Erica is a Mom, Girl Scout Troop Leader, and community activist. The proud parent of two, she currently serves as the Education Representative and Treasurer of the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council, representing over 40,000 stakeholders and 5,000 LAUSD students.
Born in Los Angeles, Erica and her husband Robert moved to Los Feliz in 2005 and where they were quickly joined by a daughter and son. Erica served on the Franklin Elementary Parent Teacher Organization as Treasurer, where she led the efforts to raise over $150,000 when the school’s Title I programs ended.
In 2018 and again in 2021, Erica’s neighbors elected her to serve as the Education Representative on the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council – the most local level of local government in Los Angeles. She built the council’s Education Committee into an engine of engagement, bringing together local leaders with teachers and administrators from 4 different LAUSD schools as well as the 2 local private schools to create a community that supports and encourages our young learners.
She has worked with District Board members, the Los Angeles City Council, federal and state representatives and has secured tens of thousands of dollars of investments in enrichment programs to LAUSD schools. After years of failed previous attempts, she secured new water bottle-filling fountains for the students at Marshall High School, King Middle School, Franklin Elementary School and Los Feliz STEM.
Beyond the classroom, Erica is dedicated to helping form the leaders of tomorrow. A believer in service and empowerment, Erica leads a Girl Scout troop of 27 girls, and, as a Service Unit Manager, advised over 45 troops from Boyle Heights to the Hollywood Hills and help found troops in areas that had never had a Girl Scout presence. Erica believes that there is a seat at the table for everyone, and an exceptional education is the right of all young Angelenos. An experienced leader who knows how to bring students, teachers, staff, and administrators together, Erica is ready to serve and help our LAUSD students thrive in 2022 and beyond.
